Since Monday, May 16, I have started rebalancing my diet to reach my target weight of 56 kilos. As the days go by, I feel better and better, and avoiding starches has never been easier. For someone who loves food like I do, my sweet cravings have significantly decreased — two squares of dark chocolate as a snack are enough to keep me satisfied until dinner.

Moreover, dark chocolate (70–85%) contains a high amount of flavonoids, antioxidants with numerous benefits, including the prevention of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. However, since cocoa is both calorie-dense and fatty, it is best consumed in moderation. Three squares of dark chocolate provide around 10% of the daily iron requirement. Cocoa is also a source of phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and copper. So go ahead and enjoy your chocolate!

Detox

I have regained energy and motivation, and I now go to the gym at least four times per week, where I complete 1.5-hour sessions (20 minutes of stationary bike, 15 minutes of elliptical trainer, 20 minutes of abs/strength training, 10 minutes for glutes, 10 minutes for back strengthening, and 10 minutes for adductors). It is important to keep your body toned, because losing weight without exercising will not give the same long-term results.

Assessment after 15 days: -3 kilos. The effort is paying off, despite a few exceptions (barbecues!).

We are going on holiday very soon, and I am delighted to have already lost these 3 kilos. I still have one last kilo to go to reach my final goal!

And what about you — are you also in the process of rebalancing your diet?
